木膠（音交顧野王云膠所以連綴物令相黏著也鄭注禮記云膠謂煑皮草令消凝而作之乃有多種或黃或黑或白或赤或煑木皮寮而作說文胒也作之以皮故從肉翏聲音力救反）。

木膠 (*mùjiāo*, plant gum; [the second character is] pronounced *jiāo*. Gu Yewang says: "Glue is that by which things are joined so as to make them adhere to one another." Zheng's commentary on the *Liji* says: "Glue refers to boiling skin or grass to make them dissolve and congeal; there are many kinds, whether yellow, black, white, or red, or boiling tree bark and shoots to make it." The *Shuowen* says: "Viscous; made from hide, hence it is composed of 肉 with 翏 as phonetic." The sound of 翏 has the fanqie 力救 [*lì* + *jiù*]).
