消殄（下田演反俗字也上聲呼孔注尚書云殄絕也尒雅盡也說文滅也正作殄從㐱㐱音之忍反從歺歺音五割經𣧠訛也）。

消殄 (*xiāotiǎn*, eradicated; the lower character has the fanqie 田演 [*tián* + *yǎn*], which is a popular form, pronounced in the rising tone. Kong's commentary on the *Shangshu* says: "*Tiǎn* means severed." The *Erya* says: "Exhausted." The *Shuowen* says: "Extinguished; the correct form is written 殄, composed of 㐱, pronounced 之忍 [*zhī* + *rěn*], and 歺, pronounced 五割 [*wǔ* + *gē*]." The sūtra's 𣧠 is an error).
