博綜（上謗莫反說文從十從簿省聲也經從心非也下宗宋反烈女傳云織者可久喻治政推而往引而來者曰綜顧野王云機縷持絲交者也綜理絲縷使不相亂曰綜形聲字也）。

Broadly synthesise (博綜: for the upper character, *bàng* - *mò* fanqie [*bó*]. The *Shuowen jiezi* states that it takes the radical 十 'ten' and uses an abbreviated 簿 *bù* as phonetic; its form in the sūtra with the radical 心 'heart' is incorrect. For the lower character, *zōng* - *sòng* fanqie [*zòng*]. The *Lienü zhuan* says: "Weaving can endure long," which is an analogy for governance; that which pushes forward and pulls back is called *zōng*. Gu Yewang says: "It is the loom-threads that hold the silk criss-crossed." Arranging the silk threads so they do not become tangled is called *zōng*. It is a phono-semantic character).
