Spears and lances (鉾䂎: for the upper character, *mò* - *hóu* fanqie [*móu*]. It is the ancient form of the character 矛 [spear]; its standard form is 矛, the name of a weapon; it is a pictograph. Or it takes the radical 戈 as 𢦵. For the lower character, *cāng* - *luàn* fanqie [*cuàn*]. The *Yunquan* says: "A *cuàn* is a small lance. In Jingchu and Bashu it is now called a *cuàn* sword; its length can be over a zhang." The *Gu-jin zhengzi* states that it takes the radical 矛 with 贊 *zàn* phonetic. The sūtra text writes it as [鉸-父+(臼/(夙-歹+十))], which is a non-standard popular form).
