揣義（上初偉反方言云揣誠也杜注左傳云度高日揣也顧野王云謂相量度也說文從手耑聲耑音端）。

Appraising the meaning (for the former [character 揣], chu + wei fan; the *Fangyan* says: "*Chuai* means sincere"; Du [Yu]'s commentary on the *Zuo zhuan* says: "Measuring height is called *chuai*"; Gu Yewang says: "It means evaluating and measuring"; the *Shuowen* says: "It is formed with 'hand' (手) and zhuan (耑) as phonetic"; 耑 is pronounced duan).
