梯蹬（上體奚反賈注國語梯階也說文木階也從木弟聲下登亘反廣雅蹬履也形聲字）。

Ladder and steps (梯蹬): The upper character has the fanqie *tǐ* + *xī* (梯). Jia [Kui]'s commentary on the *Guoyu* says: 'A ladder is stairs.' The *Shuowen [jiezi]* says: 'Wooden steps. It is derived from 木 (wood) with 弟 as phonetic.' The lower character has the fanqie *dēng* + *gèn* (蹬). The *Guangya* says: 'Steps are for treading.' It is a phono-semantic compound.
