剎帝利（上𠛴字相傳音為察韻中元無此𠛴乃是聲訛書謬也古人翻經用[利-禾+(暴-(日/共)+夾)][利-禾+(暴-(日/共)+夾)]音初擳反以音梵音後譯經者將[利-禾+(暴-(日/共)+夾)]為察以[利-禾+(暴-(日/共)+夾)]察相近遂乃變體書之致有斯謬也此句梵文無敵對語義翻云歷代王種也其中有福德智慧過於眾人者即共立為王因以為氏也）。

剎帝利 (Kṣatriya: The upper character, 𠛴, is traditionally pronounced 察 [chá]; in rhyme books there originally was no such character as 𠛴, but rather this was a phonetic corruption and an orthographic error. When the ancients translated the scriptures, they used [利-禾+(暴-(日/共)+夾)]; [利-禾+(暴-(日/共)+夾)] has the fanqie 初擳 [chà], which was used to phonetically transcribe the Sanskrit sound. Later translators took [利-禾+(暴-(日/共)+夾)] to be 察, and because [利-禾+(暴-(日/共)+夾)] and 察 are visually similar, they changed its graphic form, resulting in this error. In Chinese there is no single matching equivalent for this Sanskrit phrase; translated by its meaning, it means 'the royal lineage of successive generations'. Those among them whose merit, virtue, and wisdom surpassed the masses were jointly established as kings, and they took this as their lineage name).
