[(艱-夫+(八/十))-廿+(共-八)]辛（草閑反爾雅艱難也說文土難治也從[共-八+((中-〡+人)/土)]艮聲也[共-八+((中-〡+人)/土)]音謹字從此今俗用從[(嘆-口)-廿+(共-八)]訛也辛字上從二作辛）。

艱辛 (hardship and toil; the former is cao/xian fan; Erya says: '艱 means difficult'; Shuowen jiezi says: 'Soil that is difficult to cultivate; composed of [共-八+((中-〡+人)/土)] with 艮 phonetic'; [共-八+((中-〡+人)/土)] is pronounced jin, from which the character derives; popular usage today corruptly writes it from [(嘆-口)-廿+(共-八)]; the character 辛 has 二 on top, written as 辛).
