囑累（上之欲反韻詮云囑付也對也杜注左傳云託也楚辭云續也玉篇相寄託也委也說文連也從尾蜀聲也尾音尾下力偽反王注楚辭云重也左傳相時而動無累後人劉兆注公羊云累次積也廣雅委託累也說文累增也[土*(犮-乂+又)]土為牆曰累古文作垒絫皆象形字也或從三田作壘或作累纍）。

Entrusting (囑累: the first character, zhi [之] + yu [欲] fan. The Yunquan says: “囑 means to deliver into someone's care; to face.” Du's commentary to the Zuozhuan says: “It means to entrust.” The Chuci says: “It means to continue.” The Yupian says: “To deposit or commit to someone's care; to entrust.” The Shuowen says: “To connect; formed from tail [尾] with 蜀 phonetic.” 尾 has the sound wei. The second character, li [力] + wei [偽] fan. Wang's commentary to the Chuci says: “It means heavy.” The Zuozhuan says: “Act when the time is right, so as not to burden (累) those who follow.” Liu Zhao's commentary to the Gongyang says: “累 means to accumulate successively.” The Guangya says: “To consign or entrust is 累.” The Shuowen says: “累 means to add to; piling up earth to make a wall is called 累.” The ancient script writes it as 垒 or 絫, both pictographic characters; it is also written with three tián as 壘, or written as 累 or 纍).
