蟣蝨 (the upper character is *jī* + *nǐ* [fanqie: jǐ]; the Yunying says: "The egg of a louse; pronounced *lǔ* + *guǎn* [fanqie: luǎn]; a pictographic character." The lower character is *suǒ* + *yǐ* [fanqie: shī]; the Shuowen jiezi says: "The character 'shī' (蝨) is derived from 'xùn' and 'kūn'." The popular writing 虱 is incorrect. 'Xùn' (卂) is *xìn* [fanqie]; 'kūn' (䖵) is *kūn* [fanqie]).
