拯濟（拯取䒱上聲杜注左傳云拯救助也方言云拔也說文從手丞聲經文作極誤也下子細反孔注尚書云濟猶渡也說文從水齊聲）。

[Rescue and deliver] (The first character takes the rising tone of the character 䒱 [tɕ-]: Du's commentary on the *Zuozhuan* says, "'Zhěng' (拯) means to assist and save." The *Fangyan* says, "It means to pull out." The *Shuowen jiezi* says, "It is formed from 'hand' (手) and the 'chéng' (丞) phonetic." The sūtra text writes it as 極, which is an error. The second character has the fanqie of 子 [ts-] and 細 [-ei]: Kong's commentary on the *Classic of Documents* says, "'Jì' (濟) is like ferrying across." The *Shuowen jiezi* says, "It is formed from 'water' (水) and the 'qí' (齊) phonetic").
