Lianzhi 鍊治 (the first syllable is read with the fanqie 蓮細, and is sometimes written as 煉; it has already been explained above in the first fascicle of the Ratnamegha-sūtra. The second syllable is read with the fanqie 雉離. The Kaosheng says: "治 means to put in order, to repair what is old." Gu Yewang says: "治 means to mend or repair." The Wenzi dian explains: "It is formed from 水 [water] with 台 as the phonetic").
