Digging and chopping (斸斫: the first character has the fanqie [k]a + [l]uk, meaning a hoe or mattock. The sūtra text writes 琢 with the sound [ʈ]ak, which can also be used interchangeably in meaning. The second character has the fanqie [t͡ɕ]iaŋ + [ɲ]ak, meaning chopping with an axe; it has already been fully explained above).
