枹[(豆-一+出)*(乞-乙+(、/又))]（上音孚顧野王云枹擊鼓椎也說文擊鼓柄也從木包聲經從手作桴音夫論語云乘桴於海也非經義也）。

Drumstick (枹[(豆-一+出)*(乞-乙+(、/又))]: the first character has the sound fú [孚]. Gu Yewang says: 'A 枹 is a mallet used to beat a drum.' The Shuowen says: 'The handle for beating a drum; formed from the tree radical (木) with bāo (包) as phonetic.' The sūtra takes the hand radical, writing 桴 with the sound fū [夫]; the Analects says 'riding a raft (桴) upon the sea,' which is not the meaning of the sūtra text).
