蟠龍（上音盤方言云未昇天龍謂之蟠龍也廣雅云蟠曲也顧野王云蟠紆迴轉也說文從虫番番亦聲也）。

蟠龍 (The first character is pronounced like 盤. The Fangyan says: a dragon that has not yet ascended to heaven is called a coiled dragon (panlong). The Guangya says: 蟠 means bent or coiled. Gu Yewang says: 蟠 means twisted and turning. The Shuowen says: it takes the 'insect' radical and 番; 番 is also phonetic.)
