(The first character has the fanqie 厄耕; the second is pronounced 武. Shanhai jing says: "On Mount Huang there is a bird shaped like an owl, with green feathers and a red beak, and a human tongue that can speak; it is called a parrot." Guo's commentary says: "Nowadays the parrot's tongue resembles an infant's tongue, with two claws facing forward and two backward on its feet. Those brought out of Funan have five-coloured plumage; there are also pure white ones, the white ones being somewhat larger, like hawks." The Liji says: "Although a parrot can speak, it remains a flying bird." This is it. Shuowen jiezi: both characters take semantic 鳥, with 嬰 and 武 also acting as phonetics; sometimes written 䳇).
