明喆 ("discerning and wise"; the lower character [喆] is zhan-lie fan; Kong's commentary on the Book of Documents says: 'Zhe means clear understanding'; the Erya says: 'It means wise'; interchangeable with 哲, also written [詁-十+斤] or 悊; anciently written 哲; the Gujin zhengzi says: 'From two ji [吉] characters together').
