叡達 ("penetrating and wise"; the upper character [叡] is yue-sui fan; Kong's commentary on the Book of Documents says: 'Rui means bound to master arts'; Jia's commentary on the Guoyu says: 'Rui means clear-sighted'; the Guangya says: 'Rui means wise'; the Shuowen says: 'Rui means deeply discerning; from [the top component], the eye radical, and gu abbreviated; [the top component] is pronounced can').
