懇誠（上肯很反廣雅云懇亦誠也信也禮記云稽[(垂-土+木)*頁]而後拜懇乎其至是也文字典說云切也從心豤聲豤音坤本反從豕從艮經從豸作懇非也）。

懇誠 ('sincere and earnest'; the upper character is pronounced 肯 [kěn] + 很 [hěn] fanqie. The Guangya says: '懇 [kěn] also means sincere; it means faithful.' The Liji says: 'Bowing with the forehead to the ground before paying obeisance, showing the utmost sincerity,' which is this. The Wenzidian shuo says: 'Earnest/pressing.' It is composed of 心 ['mind'] with 豤 as phonetic. 豤 is pronounced 坤 [kūn] + 本 [běn] fanqie, and is composed of 豕 with 艮. In the sūtra text, writing it with 豸 as 懇 is incorrect).
