翡翠（上肥味反下七醉反考聲云翡翠鳥名也翡赤羽鳥也雄曰翡周書云正南以翡翠為獻說文翠青羽雀也悉出欝林二字並從羽卒非皆聲也）。

Halcyons and kingfishers (翡翠; the first character is *fei* + *wei* [fěi], the second is *qi* + *zui* [cuì]; the *Kaosheng* says: "翡翠 is the name of birds; the 翡 is a bird with red plumage; the male is called 翡." The *Zhoushu* says: "The southern quarter presented kingfishers as tribute." The *Shuowen jiezi* says: "The 翠 is a small bird with blue-green feathers; they all come from Yulin." Both characters derive from the feather radical; 卒 and 非 are their phonetic elements).
