諷誦（上風鳳反下松縱反鄭注周禮云背文曰諷以聲節之曰誦廣雅云諷教也說文諷亦誦並從言風甬皆聲甬音涌）。

諷誦 (chanting and reciting; the first character is 風鳳反; the second character is 松縱反; Zheng [Xuan's] commentary on the Rites of Zhou states that reciting with one's back turned to the text is called 諷, and modulating it with tones is called 誦; the Guangya states that 諷 means to instruct; the Shuowen jiezi states that 諷 also means 誦; both take the 'speech' (言) radical, with 風 and 甬 as phonetics; 甬 is pronounced 涌).
