商賈（上賞章反鄭注周禮云行曰𧶜處曰賈鄭又注考工記云𧶜販買之客也考聲云𧶜行販者也說文云行賈也從貝商省聲下姑戶反鄭注周禮云通物曰𧶜居賣曰賈左傳云賈買也爾雅云市也說文云坐賣售也從貝西聲經作估非也）。

Merchants and traders (商賈: the upper character has the fanqie 賞章 [shāng]. Zheng's commentary on the Zhouli states: "Traveling is called 商; remaining settled is called 賈." Zheng's commentary on the Kaogong ji also states: "A 商 is a traveling merchant. The Kaosheng states: "A 商 is an itinerant trader." The Shuowen states: "To trade on the move. Derived from 貝, with 商 abbreviated as phonetic." The lower character has the fanqie 姑戶 [gǔ]. Zheng's commentary on the Zhouli states: "Circulating goods is called 商; residing and selling is called 賈." The Zuozhuan states: "賈 means to buy." The Erya states: "It means a market."
