分析 (xing-yi fan; Kong's commentary to the Book of Documents says: "Fen means to analyze"; the Shenglei says: "Xi means to cleave"; the Shuowen jiezi says: "To split wood; composed of 'wood' with jin [axe] as phonetic"; in the sūtra it is written with the hand radical and the pian radical, which is a vulgar character).
