頑鈍（上五關反下䐁嫰反左傳云心不測德義之經曰頑廣雅云頑亦鈍也蒼頡篇云鈍頑也淮南子云鈍識見闇濁也說文頑從頁元聲鈍從金屯聲也）。

頑鈍 (obstinate and dull; the first character is 五關反; the second character is 䐁嫰反; the Zuo zhuan states, 'One whose heart cannot fathom the norms of virtue and righteousness is called obstinate (頑)'; the Guangya states that 頑 also means dull; the Cang Jie Pian states that 鈍 means obstinate; Huainanzi states that 鈍 means dark and turbid discernment; the Shuowen jiezi states that 頑 takes the 'head' (頁) radical with 元 as phonetic, and 鈍 takes the 'metal' (金) radical with 屯 as phonetic).
