綵女（猜宰反鄭注考工記畫繪之事五色備謂之綵是也古今正字云五釆彰施于五色謂繒色從糸釆聲經文從女作婇非也）。

綵女, [maidens in variegated silks] (cāi + zǎi fanqie. Zheng's commentary on the Kaogong ji says: "In the work of painting and embroidering, having all five colors complete is called cǎi (綵)." The Gujin zhengzi says: "Five-colored patterns displayed in the five colors refer to silk colors; it is classified under the silk radical (糸), with cǎi (釆) phonetic." In the sūtra text it is written with the woman radical as 婇, which is incorrect).
