旭日（上吁玉反毛詩傳曰旭謂日始出大昕之時也說文旭日且出貌也從日九聲）。

旭日 (rising sun; the first character is 吁玉反; the Mao Commentary on the Classic of Poetry states that 旭 refers to the moment when the sun first emerges at dawn; the Shuowen jiezi states that 旭 is the appearance of the sun about to rise; it takes the 'sun' (日) radical with 九 as phonetic).
