采蓮（上猜宰反考聲云采取也說文從爪從木今經從手通用也）。

Plucking lotuses [采蓮]: the first [character is pronounced with the fanqie] cai-zai (猜宰反). The Kaosheng states: 'Cǎi (采) means to pick/gather.' The Shuowen [jiezi] says it is formed from [the semantic components] zhuǎ (爪, hand/claw) and mù (木, tree). In the present sūtra text, it is written with the hand radical (採), which is interchangeably used.
