研精（齧賢反廣雅云研熟也說文研䃺從石幵聲經作研俗字也幵音牽也）。

研精 (The first character has the fanqie 齧 plus 賢. The Guangya says: "Yan means to examine thoroughly." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Yan means to grind; it is formed from the radical 石 and the phonetic 幵." The sūtra writes it as 研, which is a vulgar character. 幵 has the pronunciation qiān).
