Wailing and crying out (The first character is hú + gāo fanqie. The Gujin zhengzi states it takes sī with hào as phonetic; sī is pronounced sī. The Kaosheng says: 'Háo means loud weeping; a sound of sorrow.' It is also written with 'mouth' and gāo as 噑. The second character, jiào, is xiāo + yào fanqie, a vulgar character. The Shuowen standard form is 噭; 噭 means roaring or calling out; it takes 'mouth' with jiào as phonetic; jiào is kǒu + diāo fanqie, an ancient character).
