𠦶屣（上革字說文云獸皮治去毛革更之也古文革字從三十凡三十年為一世而道更革易也從臼今從省作革下師滓反履屨也以皮作之故名革屣即五天竺國皮鞋也無跟無綱帶屩屬也）。

𠦶屣 (the first character is 革 [leather]. The Shuowen says: 'Animal hide treated to remove hair; changing and reforming it.' The ancient form of the character 革 is composed of thirty [世]; thirty years constitute a generation, and the way changes and reforms. It takes the mortar radical 臼, but is now written in abbreviated form as 革. The second character is *sh[ī] + z[ǐ]* fanqie; footwear and sandals. Being made of leather, they are named leather sandals, which are the leather shoes of the Five Indias; they have no heel or cord ties, being a type of clog or sandal).
