莫怕（拍罵反考聲云懼也韻英云怖也從心白聲有從巾作帊俗用也經文從𧟳作怕或從賈作𭞼譯經者率尒而作甚無據皆非也怕字本音普白反今不取此音）。

莫怕 (pronounced with the fanqie 拍 + 罵 [pà]. The Kaosheng says: "Fear." The Yunying says: "Terrified." It is formed with the radical 心 and 白 as phonetic. Some write it with 巾 as 帊, which is popular usage. The text of the scripture writes it with 𧟳 as 怕, or with 賈 as 𭞼; the translators composed these rashly without any foundation, and both are incorrect. The original pronunciation of the character 怕 is with the fanqie 普 + 白 [pò], but this pronunciation is not adopted here).
