寶篋: The first character has the pronunciation of 保. The character books state that the orthodox form has [午/止], written as 寶, meaning precious. In the scriptures it is written with 尓 as 寶, which is a popular form. The second character has the fanqie [q]iān + [j]iá. The Shuowen [jiezi] has it with the box radical (匚), written as 匧, meaning a small chest. The Gujin zhengzi has it with the bamboo radical (竹) and 匧 phonetic. The pronunciation of 匧 is the same as above. The pronunciation of 匚 has the fanqie [f]àng + [w]áng.
