霹靂（上俜壁反下音歷顧野王云霹靂大雷震也史記云陰陽氣之擊動也古今正字並從雨形聲字或從石作礔礰也皆近代出古文無也）。

霹靂 (The upper character is pronounced with the fanqie 俜壁 [pī]; the lower character has the sound 歷 [lì]. Gu Yewang says: "霹靂 is a great thunderclap." The Shiji says: "The clashing and surging of yin and yang qi." In standard ancient and modern writing, both are phono-semantic graphs written with 雨, or sometimes with 石 as 礔礰. Both are recent forms not found in the ancient script.)
