打摑（寡伯反俗字也時共用說文正體作𢼛從支從格省聲也廣雅𢼛擊也埤蒼云擊頰也顧野王云今俗語云摑耳是也正體本形聲字也極有理為涉古時不多用若能依行甚有憑據也）。

打摑 (guǎ bó fan [guā]; a popular character commonly used nowadays. The standard form in the Shuowen is written 𢼛, composed of 支 with an abbreviated 格 phonetic. The Guangya says: "𢼛 means to strike." The Picang says: "To strike the cheek." Gu Yewang says: "Today's vernacular expression guǎěr ['slap the ear'] is this." The standard form was originally a phonogram and extremely logical; being ancient, it is not much used nowadays, but if one can follow it, it has great authority).
