柔耎（上而周反說文木曲直曰柔從木矛聲下而兖反說文耎弱也從大而聲也經作軟非也）。

柔耎 [pliant and soft] (The first character has the fanqie [而+周] róu. The Shuowen says: wood bending or straight is called róu; it is composed of 'wood' with máo phonetic. The second character has the fanqie [而+兖] ruǎn. The Shuowen says: ruǎn means weak; it is composed of 'great' with ér phonetic. In the sūtra it is written as 軟, which is incorrect).
