牙莖（上雅家反下幸耕反說文云草本曰莖從草巠聲也）。

Sprouts and stalks (牙莖: the upper character [牙] is pronounced *y[a]* + *[j]ia* [yá]. The lower character [莖] is pronounced *x[ing]* + *[g]eng* [jīng]. The *Shuowen [jiezi]* says: "The stem of a plant is called *jing*." It is classified under grass (艸) with *jing* (巠) phonetic).
