坦然（他嬾反蒼頡篇云坦著也廣雅坦平說文安也從土旦聲也旦字從日下一也）。

Level and even (坦然: [坦 is] pronounced *t[a]* + *[l]an* [tǎn]. The *Cang Jie pian* says: "*Tan* means manifest." The *Guangya* says: "*Tan* means level." The *Shuowen [jiezi]* says: "Peaceful." It is classified under earth (土) with *dan* (旦) phonetic; the character *dan* (旦) is composed of *ri* (日) above *yi* (一)).
