攢捻（上徂丸反古今正字云攢叢也言叢聚五指而捻珠也從木贊聲經從手作攢音讚非也下寧牒反也）。

攢捻 ('gathering and rolling [the beads]'; the first character has the fanqie 徂 [cu] + 丸 [wan]; the Gujin zhengzi says: '攢 [cuan] means to cluster; it refers to clustering the five fingers to roll beads'; it is formed from 木 with 贊 as phonetic; the sūtra writing it with 手 as 攢 and pronounced 讚 [zan] is incorrect; the second character has the fanqie 寧 [ning] + 牒 [die]).
