麋鹿（上美悲反方言云麋老也白虎通云射侯射麋者也示遠迷惑人也麋之為言迷也說文鹿屬也從鹿米聲也）。

Elk and deer (麋鹿, the first character is pronounced m[ěi]-b[ēi] fan; the Fangyan says: "麋 means old." The Bohu tong says: "When shooting at targets, shooting the elk represents far-off bewilderment of people; elk [麋, mí] punningly signifies bewilderment [迷, mí]." The Shuowen says: "A kind of deer; formed with the 'deer' radical and the phonetic component 米 [mǐ]").
