交絡（上交字說文云交合也互也象交形經文從糸作絞縊也上聲字甚乖經義下音洛說文及山海經皆云遶也縊音伊弃反）。

Interlaced and entwined (交絡: for the upper character jiāo, Shuowen jiezi states: 'Interlaced together; mutual; depicting the form of crossing'; the sūtra text writes it with 糸 as 絞, meaning to strangle, a character in the rising tone, which deviates greatly from the sūtra's meaning. The lower character is pronounced luò; Shuowen jiezi and the Shanhaijing both state that it means to encircle; the character 縊 [in strangulation] has the fanqie yī + qì [yì]).
