南贍部洲（前音義第一己具釋此大地之捴名也四回一大鹹海圍遶故名為洲北廣南陿其形三角其後三洲亦准此說贍音常焰反）。

Southern continent of Jambudvīpa (南贍部洲: already fully explained previously in the first fascicle of Sounds and Meanings. This is the general name for this great earth. Because it is surrounded on all four sides by a great salty ocean, it is called a continent (dvīpa). It is wide in the north and narrow in the south, triangular in shape.
