炊爨（麤亂反說文云齊謂之炊爨也從臼象持甑巾象甑冂象竈口拱推薪內火也籀文作爨會意字）。

Chuīcuàn [炊爨, cooking and preparing food] (Cuàn has the fanqie cū + luàn. The Shuowen jiezi states: 'In the state of Qi, cooking is called chuīcuàn [炊爨].' The character is formed from jiù 臼 picturing holding an earthen cooking vessel, jīn 巾 picturing the steaming pot, jiōng 冂 picturing the mouth of the stove, and gǒng 拱 pushing firewood into the fire. In the seal script it is written 爨; it is an ideogram).
