葦筒(待公反三蒼筒也郭璞曰竹管也說文筩斷竹也今皆作筒經文從木作桶也孔木欓也欓他朗反謂受漆者可以盛食桶非此用)。

Reed tube (葦筒; [tong] 待公 fan; the *Sancang* states: 'Tong (筒) is a tube.' Guo Pu says: 'A bamboo pipe.' The *Shuowen* states: 'A piece of bamboo cut off is a tong (筩).' Nowadays it is commonly written as 筒. The sūtra text writes it with the wood radical as 桶 ('tub'), which refers to a wooden vat (欓; [dang] 他朗 fan), meaning a vessel to hold lacquer or used to contain food; a tub (桶) is not used in this sense).
