頑癡(上五䚪反廣雅云頑鈍也孔注尚書云心不測德義之聲為頑考聲云愚也說文從頁元聲古作妧)。
頑癡 (the first character is wu-chai fan; the Guangya states: '頑 means dull and blunt.' Kong's commentary on the Shangshu states: 'A mind that does not perceive the sound of virtue and righteousness is called 頑.' The Kaosheng states: 'foolish.' The Shuowen gives it as derived from yè 'head' with yuán as the phonetic; in ancient writing it was made as 妧).
