卜筮（時世反筮問也禮記龜為卜箸為筮卜筮者决嫌疑定猶預故疑即筮之字從竹古今之正字）。

卜筮 (fanqie: 時 + 世. 筮 means inquiring. The *Liji* says: 'The tortoise shell is used for 卜, and yarrow stalks are used for 筮.' Divination by bone and yarrow is used to resolve doubts and settle indecision; hence the character for 筮, composed with the bamboo radical, has been the standard form from antiquity to the present).
