掬於（居六反毛詩傳云兩手曰掬也掬說文從手從[(((嘹-口)-小)-日+干)*匊]省聲[(((嘹-口)-小)-日+干)*匊]音同上或上從勹從米作匊古文作𰅛亦作[(((嘹-口)-小)-日+干)*匊]並通用勹音包也）。

掬於 (fanqie: 居 + 六. The *Mao Commentary to the Odes* says: 'Two hands [together] is called 掬.' In the *Shuowen jiezi*, 掬 is formed from 'hand' with [(((嘹-口)-小)-日+干)*匊] abbreviated as phonetic; [(((嘹-口)-小)-日+干)*匊] has the same pronunciation as above; or with 勹 at top and 米 at bottom, forming 匊; in ancient script written 𰅛, and also written [(((嘹-口)-小)-日+干)*匊], all used interchangeably; 勹 is pronounced 包).
