稽首（上溪禮反鄭注周禮云稽首首至地也說文從旨從𮂱省聲也𮂱音兮從禾禾音鷄從禾者非也古文作𩠜從旨從古首字也）。

稽首 (the upper character has the fanqie 溪 + 禮. Zheng's commentary to the *Zhouli* says: '稽首 means the head reaching the ground.' The *Shuowen jiezi* says it is formed from 旨 with 𮂱 abbreviated as phonetic; 𮂱 is pronounced 兮; it is formed from 禾, which is pronounced 鷄; writing it from 禾 is incorrect. In ancient script it was written 𩠜, formed from 旨 and the ancient character for 'head').
