Tilling the soil (墾土): [墾 is pronounced with the fanqie] 康 + 佷, a falling tone (shang sheng) character. The Cang Jie pian says: 'Ken (墾) means to plough.' The Fangyan says: 'Ken means to labor in the fields.' Guo's commentary says: 'It refers to one who exerts effort in ploughing and tilling.' The Gujin zhengzi says: 'It is categorized under 土 (earth) with 豤 as phonetic.'
