Cormorant (鸕鶿): [鸕 is pronounced with the fanqie] 力 + 胡; the second character is pronounced 慈 (ci). The Erya says: 'Ciyi (鶿鷧).' Guo Pu says: 'That is the luci (鸕鶿, cormorant); the tip of its bill is like a hook, and it feeds on fish.' In the central lands it is sometimes called water crow. This bird is viviparous, giving birth by spitting them out from its mouth, bearing eight or nine young at one birth.
