疲倦（上被眉反顧野王云疲亦倦也廣雅云病也古今正字云勞也從疒皮聲下權院反廣雅云倦極也勞也顧野王云亦疲也說文從人卷聲也經作惓說文作券並通用）。

Weary and exhausted (疲倦: the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 被 + 眉 [pí]; Gu Yewang says *pi* (疲) also means exhausted (*juan* 倦); the *Guangya* says it means sick; the *Gujin zhengzi* says it means toiled, with the semantic radical 疒 [sickness] and phonetic 皮 [pí]. The second character is pronounced with the fanqie 權 + 院 [juàn]; the *Guangya* says it means to reach the limit of exhaustion, to be toiled; Gu Yewang says it also means weary (*pi* 疲); the *Shuowen jiezi* says it has the semantic radical 人 [person] and phonetic 卷 [juàn]; the sūtra writes it as 惓, and the *Shuowen jiezi* writes it as 券, both of which are used interchangeably).
